About Our Organization

The Obama Volunteer Corps is a grassroots organization centered in Houston, Texas.  We are a group of volunteers inspired by the historical Presidental campaign of Senator Barack Obama, devoted to making Senator Obama's message of change a reality by serving our communities through public service and activism.   Our organization is committed to showing that words do have meaning, words inspire people to take action.  Our group is ready to work to improve the communities we live in and spread the message of hope and change.    We have already begun working with other volunteer organizations around the nation, from Pennsylvania to Kentucky and beyond.  We are determined to prove to people that there is such a thing as a new kind of politics.

Senator Obama started his career as a community organizer and it is a testament to his work that so many people are willing to devote their time and effort to helping create change from the bottom-up. 

 

We will continue recruiting volunteers nationwide and organizing civic projects. 

 

It is our hope that we can promote real change in our communities by empowering Obama supporters to step-up and take part in their neighborhoods to improve this country one city-block at a time.  Change comes in small steps, but together we can build-up ourselves, we can build-up our communities and we can build-up our country.
