The Obama Volunteer Corps is a grassroots organization centered in Houston, Texas.
We are a group of volunteers inspired by the historical Presidental campaign of Senator Barack Obama, devoted to making the Senator's message of change a reality by serving our communities through public service and activism.
Our organization is committed to showing that words do have meaning, words inspire people to take action. Our group is ready to work to improve the communities we live in and spread the message of hope and change.
When: Saturday, May 3, 2008
9 Am until 3 PM Where: Southmore Obama Volunteer Office
2520 Southmore Blvd
Houston, Texas 77004
The Obama Volunteer office located at Southmore Blvd is in need of a makeover. Sharon Washington has asked our group to come out and help them do some cosmetic work on the building.
The event will include painting and general clean-up.
I think it is important that we help the Southmore office out since it serves as a community space for Obama supporters to meet and organize. They need us to help paint, remove clutter and work on the flooring within the building (which is probably requiring us to rip up carpet and tile).
The possibility exists that this event might become a 2-day event, so if you're unable to attend on day 1, you can attend on day 2.
Volunteers are asked to bring paint rollers and paint pans. Paint will be supplied by the Southmore office.
Let's step up and show the Southmore office how much we appreciate everything they've done and continue to do to help Senator Obama make it into the White House!
